OUR PURPOSE
A faithful group of PHS 1996 high school alumni came together to start a scholarship program as a way to give back to their community. The program is aimed at helping high school students in the local area who are facing financial constraints but have the potential to excel academically. The alumni recognize the importance of education and believe that every student should have an opportunity to pursue their dreams regardless of their financial situation. Through their scholarship program, they hope to inspire and support students to achieve their goals and make a positive impact in their community. The program has already gained significant traction and support from the community, and the alumni are excited to see the positive impact it will have on the lives of students in the years to come.

OUR HISTORY
The PHS 1996 Alumni Foundation, Inc. has been making a positive impact for the past 7 years by awarding scholarships to graduating seniors of Palatka High School. The organization was founded by three alumni Carrisa Jones, Yalanda McCoy, and Jeanie Elledge Collins who recognized that students at their high school needed more than what was being offered, and wanted to invest in the next generation.
Initially, the scholarship was fully funded by their classmates and businesses. However, in 2023, the organization began collecting outside donors. Prior to establishing the scholarship fund, Yalanda, Carrisa, and Jeanie wanted to build a community by organizing reunions and gatherings for their alumni. They were met with an overwhelming response from many amazing people who had graduated with them and were willing to contribute and donate to the cause.
In 2022, the organization became a nonprofit, and since then, The PHS 1996 Alumni Foundation, Inc. has continued to inspire and support students, while also fostering a sense of community among its members.
